This Exam Syllabus provides detailed information on what can be assessed in the exam. You can use it to plan your study. You may then rely on the training materials provided by an Authorized Training Organization to prepare yourself for the exam.

Topic 1 – Scaled-Agile Key Concepts

Candidates are expected to distinguish and explain the different project approaches. They should also be able to describe major single-team frameworks, events and artifacts. They should be able to distinguish different product development scenarios. Candidates should also be able to explain the purpose of key scaled-agile frameworks, events, artifacts, practices and principles.

Topic 2 – Scaled-Agile Organization

Candidates are expected to be familiar with the meaning of a self-managing team, cross-functional, collaborating, and feature-based team. They should also be able to explain how a team can influence its values and behaviors. Candidates should have detailed knowledge of the responsibilities of each role within a scaled-agile team. They should also be able to recommend best practices to adapt the organizational structure to a scaled-agile environment.

Topic 3 – Scaled-Agile Product Planning

Candidates are expected to understand the purpose of a product backlog and a product goal. They should also understand how product backlog items can be created, refined, ordered, prioritized, and documented. Candidates should be familiar with single-team and multi-team product backlog refinement. They should also be able to understand how epics may be decomposed into user stories. They should also be able to identify and minimize different types of product backlog item dependencies. Finally, they should be able to organize items into product areas.

Topic 4 – Release Planning

Candidates should be able to suggest and explain alternative units of measurement and techniques to estimate product backlog items. Candidates should be able to explain how velocity may be used to plan releases. They should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of how to determine how the product will evolve over multiple releases. Finally, candidates should be familiar with product roadmaps.

Topic 5 – Sprinting

Candidates should be able to explain the purpose of the scaled-agile sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review, and sprint retrospective events. They should also be able to recommend alternative approaches to run these events.

Topic 6 – Tracking Progress

Candidates should be able to use different artifacts to track the progress of multiple agile teams. They should also be able to suggest metrics to track progress.

Topic 7 – Multi-team Coordination

Candidates should be able to suggest practices to synchronize multiple teams working on a single product. They should also be able to recognize practices to improve the product quality.
